The SafEye range of "line-of-sight" Optical Gas Detectors
features a new generation of Open Path IR and UV detection systems. Open path
spectroscopy offers unprecedented reliability in real-time monitoring of
gaseous emissions over large areas, rendering it the accepted technology for industrial and
environmental applications.
These systems
provide exceptional detection capability of gas/vapor concentrations
ranging from as low as Parts Per Million (PPM) levels to Lower Explosive
Limit (LEL) levels in a wide range of hazardous conditions and ambient air monitoring.
SafEye System employs a unique flash light source
coupled with optical detectors and mathematical algorithms to spectrally
analyze an air path ranging from 2 ft. to 450 ft. (0.6m - 140m) with high
detection sensitivity in both UV and IR spectral bands. The system is
compatible
with a wide range of control systems providing multiple outputs (dry
contacts, 4-20mA, RS-485).
The open path line-of-sight gas detection system can
monitor and transmit an alarm signal prior to occurrence of fire or an
explosion, identify the chemical family concerned and activate
preventative systems.
The SafEye gas detection system can serve as a process
control component in the chemical and petrochemical industries, or as a
safety system in commercial and industrial applications.

Range of Gas Detectors

Typical
Gas Detection Applications
The major growth of use of Open Path systems is in the
area of oil and gas offshore production platforms, FPSOs and onshore
production. Spectrex is particularly active with its SafEye Open Path Gas
Detectors in offshore Britain (North Sea) and offshore Norway (North Sea).
SafEye systems can be very useful in additional
applications such as:
Combustion Monitoring - SafEye gas detector can be
used to monitor combustion efficiency in various chemical processes by
analyzing the ratio of combustion products such as Carbon Monoxide
(CO), Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and unburned Hydrocarbons (HC).
Online Process Control - SafEye Open Path gas
detector can be used to monitor chemical processes by analyzing the
emitted gases and relative concentrations. The system can monitor
Ammonia, aromatic compounds like Benzene, Toluene and Styrene,
Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S, CS2), Carbon Disulfide, Aliphatic Sulfides,
Aliphatic Mercaptans, and many other gaseous compounds.
Environmental Monitoring - SafEye line of sight
detectors can monitor toxic vapors or hazardous/flammable gases
originating from industrial processes for the purpose of worker safety
and the prevention of environmental contamination.
